The Bihar Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) Scheme 2026-27 is open for applications from 15 July 2026 to 15 September 2026. It supports SC, ST, BC, and EBC students studying beyond 10th class, and there is no application fee.
Eligibility
- Permanent resident of Bihar (this includes all Kosi division districts: Saharsa, Madhepura, Supaul).
- Belongs to SC, ST, BC, or EBC category.
- Annual family income does not exceed ₹3,00,000.
- Currently enrolled in a post-matric course (class 11 onward, including diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs).
Application process
- Registration — create an account on the portal matching your category.
- Fill Application — enter personal, academic, and bank details.
- Upload Documents — category certificate, income certificate, marksheets, and Aadhaar.
- Aadhaar Seeding Status — confirm your bank account is Aadhaar-linked, since scholarship disbursement goes through Direct Benefit Transfer.
- Institute Verification — your college/school verifies your application.
- District Verification — the district welfare office reviews it.
- State Approval — final approval before payment.
Common reasons applications get rejected
Mismatched name spelling across Aadhaar and marksheet, an income certificate older than the current financial year, and unlinked Aadhaar-bank accounts are the most frequent rejection reasons. Fix these before you start the online form — corrections after submission are harder to make within the verification workflow.
The bottom line
Apply as early as possible within the July 15 – September 15 window rather than close to the deadline — server load on the portal increases sharply in the final days, and document verification takes time on the institute and district end.
